Screen Classifying Cutter
The SCC-15 screen classifying cutter cuts hard, soft, and fibrous materials into controlled particle sizes from granules down to 20-30 mesh with minimal fines, at rates to 500 cu ft/hr. The patented helical rotor design with dozens of cutter heads attached to a helical array of staggered holders called “interconnected parallelograms” continuously shear oversize materials against twin, stationary bed knives. Carbide tipped cutter heads along the entire shaft, with no frontal gaps between the tips, cut the product into uniform pieces with minimum fines and imperfections in the granulate, with little to no heat generation. The cutter has a 15-in.-throat width and can be fitted with 30 parallelograms with 60 cutter inserts. Bed screen perforations range from 1/32 to 1 1/2 in. in diameter and up to 3 sq in. Munson Machinery Company, Inc., Utica, NY 800-944-6644 www.munsonmachinery.com

102286.tifData Acquisition Package for Attritors
This optional data acquisition package provides customers with real-time data that will be helpful in monitoring conditions in the mill as well as improving quality control and providing an easier method for test comparisons. The software package is designed to interface with the Baldor VS1SP variable frequency drive, which is standard on most Union Process attritors sold in the U.S. Until now, customers could monitor just three parameters on the drive display using the standard readout that comes with the attritor. Any data would have to be manually recorded. With the package, customers can monitor: voltage to the motor; motor current in amps; motor absolute speed in rpm; reference speed in hertz; torque in Newton-meters; actual motor rpm; agitator rpm; kw. Union Process Inc., Akron, OH 330-929-3333  www.unionprocess.com

Cone Mill
The Kek cone mill is a versatile size reduction machine in the powder processing industry. Its ability to take a wide range of feed material and produce an equally wide range of product, makes it ideal for intermediate sizing in both wet and dry granulation processes. The unit provides a gentle low-energy form of size reduction and eliminates traditional milling problems including noise, dust, and heat. The gentle grinding action is capable of control within fine limits while maintaining a close particle size distribution with minimal fines generation, typically grinding from 25 to 250 µm. Kemutec, Bristol, PA 215-788-8013 www.KemutecUSA.com

102288.tifSeries Crusher
The 20 series hammer mills are designed for high-reduction ratios. The machines can be equipped with several styles of hammers and various sizes of screen/grate openings based on the material and sizing required. The 20 series is offered in widths from 12 to 30 in. and can be driven via belt or direct connected. American Pulverizer Co., 314-781-6100  www.ampulverizer.com

Lump Breaker
The LumpMaster reduces lumps and agglomerations in fats, sugars, sludge cake, plastics, waxes, solid waste, or any other material that compacts. The simple and economical design is easily integrated into your existing process or can be engineered into a new feeding solution. Construction options are available for washdown or explosion-proof applications. Hapman, Kalamazoo, MI 800-427-6260 www.hapman.com

102290.tifUltra-Fine Grinding Mills
Sweco offers a variety of size reduction equipment designed by Ecutec. Various fine and ultra-fine grinding equipment, including pin mills, ball mills, vertical roller mills, jet mills, and impact mills, is available. Many of these mills are available with air classification systems designed directly into the machine itself, allowing for grinding and separation to take place in the same system. Most other mills are integrated as a component into a system. These systems typically include a mill, classifier, and peripherals for a complete particle size reduction circuit. This milling equipment can produce 2 micron and finer. Sweco, Florence, KY 800-807-9326 www.sweco.com

Grinding Mills
Vibra-Drum grinding mills are proven in dozens of milling applications in the mining and mineral industries to achieve energy savings of 35-50%, thanks to a unique rotational material motion that is more efficient than conventional ball or rotary mills. New processes include micron grinding and mechano-chemical grinding. These units are ideal for continuous processing of “difficult-to-fluidize” products such as large flake and stringy or tacky materials. Typical applications include direct gas contact heating, drying, cooling, and coating. Extensive in-house or on-site testing is available to qualify your product requirements. General Kinematics Corp., Crystal Lake, IL 815-455-3222 www.gkprocess.com

102292.tifCage Mill
The H Series multi-cage mill is available in 2-4- or 6-row design and in four sizes up to 250 tn/hr. The design features also include air cannons, heaters, and hydraulic ram. The cage mill is a selective crushing, controlled-impact, multi-cage mill designed for sizing minerals and agglomerates, whole grains, chemical, ores, and many other materials. It processes wet and sticky materials as well as dry materials into a carefully controlled uniform particle size. Stedman, Aurora, IN 800-262-5401 www.stedman-machine.com

Lump Breakers
Several alternatives are available when industrial processes require size reduction, crushing, and de-agglomeration. Capacities vary by equipment but the family of products covers capacities from 2000 to 35,000 lb/hr. Two new models of lump breakers are designed to reduce softer and abrasive products such as filter cakes, food stuffs, chemicals, fertilizers, and fly ash into sizes that can be further processed. Both models are available with motor and drive options and various materials of construction (mild steel, stainless steel, Hastelloy, etc.) to suit the mechanical and chemical elements of the application. Custom designs include but are not limited to inlets, outlets, mount stands, and integrated controls. S. Howes Inc., Silver Creek, NY 716-934-2611 www.showes.com

102294.tifTriangular Blade Lump Breaker
The Triskelion lump breaker is composed of a number of rotating triangular blades that intermesh with stationary blades. The triangular blades capture the input material, force it through the lump breaker, and roughly size the output into relatively uniform pieces of 3/4 in. or less by the spacing of the blades. The unit is effective for breaking press cake, chunks, slabs, and sheets of wet, dry, sticky, hard, or soft materials. Construction is mild or stainless steel, with other materials available. Units are available in capacities from a few pounds to several thousand pounds per hour. Special features like rod fingers instead of blades, gas-tight construction, and sanitary and high-temperature construction are available. Wyssmont Company, Inc., Ft. Lee, NJ 201-947-4600 www.wyssmont.com

Pin Mill
Operators can process oversize sugar to fine granular or de-agglomerate granulated sugar with a low-maintenance Simpactor pin mill. The unit is a centrifugal, pin-type impact mill that reduces low-to-medium-density materials to uniform fine particle sizes of 50-200 mesh. Feed is dropped onto the spinning rotor plate where centrifugal force drives it through a set of intermeshing pins and against a corrugated impact ring. This action reduces the size of friable particles via impact. Sturtevant Inc., Hanover, MA 781-829-1433  www.sturtevantinc.com
