Plastican Plans R&D Lab at Massachusetts Facility

Plastican Inc. has announced expansion of its research and development capabilities at its manufacturing facilities in Leominster, Massachusetts, the largest plastic pail manufacturing plant in North America.

The planned addition will allow Plastican to further develop its line of proprietary molding technologies and to expedite manufacturing processes for several new patented packaging concepts such as a new series of twist and lock containers, and new additions to its line of environmentally favorable lightweight containers. Plastican’s R&D investment will also expand its capabilities to test next generation heat transfer labeling. The new facility will include two new molding machines dedicated to R&D as well as additional personnel assigned to R&D projects.

A leader in the manufacture of rigid plastic packaging, Plastican specializes in open-head HDPE industrial pails and covers. The pails range in size from 1 to 6½ gal and are used to transport a wide variety of products, including paints, foods, construction supplies, specialty chemicals, pool chemicals, and pet-care products. Founded in 1969, the company has four wholly owned manufacturing facilities in Leominster, Dallas, Macon, Georgia, and Phoenix.
