Pharma Tech Industries Honored

Pharma Tech Industries (PTI), the largest pharmaceutical contract manufacturer and packager of powder products in the world, was a finalist in an annual statewide recognition of Georgia family businesses. The honor is bestowed by the Cox Family Enterprise Center, an institution at Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business.

Pharma Tech Industries, which was founded in 1972 and now has approximately 375 employees, was started by company chairman Edward T. Noland and is owned by the Noland family. Several of Noland’s family members are involved in PTI’s management and day-to-day operations, including his son, Edward T. Noland, Jr., who serves as senior vice president of sales and marketing.

The recognition comes during a period of significant growth for Pharma Tech Industries, which provides significant production capabilities for many powder-based products. Through steady, incremental expansion, PTI has become a one-stop-shop for its pharmaceutical customers through its vertically integrated capabilities. Most recently, PTI has introduced “stick pack” packaging capabilities and constructed a new pharmaceutical grade clean room – its ninth – to meet growing customer demands.

The Cox Family Enterprise Center’s mission is to improve the well being of family businesses through education for families and business leaders, recognize the contributions family businesses make to society, and invest in scientific research of family businesses. Founded in 1987, the CFEC was one of the first university-based centers of its kind and has since had a positive influence on hundreds of Georgia businesses across dozens of industries.

“Pharmaceutical manufacturing is complicated and extraordinarily detailed work, so we need to implicitly trust our employees as we would family members,” said Edward T. Noland, chairman of Pharma Tech Industries.  “The tight-knit, inclusive environment at PTI has a positive effect on everything from efficiency and quality to job satisfaction and a high rate of employee retention. We are honored to have been a finalist for Cox’s prestigious family business award.”
