Paul Polman Elected to Dow Board of Directors

polman.jpgDow has announced that Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever PLC and Unilever N.V., has been elected to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Polman brings to Dow an exceptional understanding of both the chemical and related downstream consumer products industries. Prior to taking the helm at Unilever, Polman was a top executive of both Procter & Gamble Co. and Nestlé. Polman was chief financial officer and executive vice president at Nestlé where he was also responsible for leading the Americas businesses. With 26 years of experience at Procter & Gamble, Polman served in a number of key leadership capacities, culminating in his appointment as group president Europe and officer of the Procter & Gamble Co.

"Paul Polman has a demonstrated track record in the household and consumers products markets,” said Andrew N. Liveris, Dow’s chairman and CEO. “His experience and international perspective will be instrumental in helping guide the implementation of our transformational strategy to a more performance-based, market-focused company. Paul’s financial savvy, customer-focus, and commitment to sustainability make him a tremendous addition to the Dow board."

In addition to his role as CEO of Unilever, Paul serves as president of the Kilimanjaro Blind trust and chairman of Perkins International Advisory Board. He is a member of the European Round Table, The International Business Council of the World Economic Forum, the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
