Monument Chemicals Completes Acquisition of Dow Haltermann Custom Processing in Belgium

Monument Chemicals Inc., a specialty chemicals holding company, has completed an acquisition with The Dow Chemical Co. (Dow), acquiring a multipurpose manufacturing facility and the business assets of Dow Haltermann Custom Processing located in Antwerp, Belgium. Effective June 2, Monument now serves the European specialty chemicals sector under the newly named company, CHL Chemical. The U.S.-based business will continue to operate as Johann Haltermann Ltd.

"We are thinking globally while we invest regionally in order to continue to provide custom processing and specialty chemical customers with the technical expertise, flexibility, and service that they have come to expect,” said Amy Schumacher, president of Monument Chemicals. “Today’s acquisition sets the stage for growth with key customer relationships.”

The deal marks an important move in Monument's strategy for global expansion in the specialty chemicals market. It reunites Monument’s Houston-based Haltermann specialty chemicals operation with the manufacturing business in Belgium and expands the company’s presence into Europe.
