u25ab_83885.jpgRibbon Blenders

These ribbon blenders are constructed in stainless steel and each is designed for operation under vacuum and internal pressure. All include jackets for heating and cooling as well as special domed covers and a flush type pneumatically operated discharge valve. The drive systems include a 150-hp motor directly coupled to a heavy-duty reducer for operation at 22 rpm. Ribbon blenders are manufactured in a wide range of sizes from ½ to over 500-cu-ft working capacity. They are offered with several agitator design possibilities. Standard options include sanitary or air purged stuffing boxes, jackets for heating and cooling, sanitary construction, and covers to meet client’s production needs. Blenders are kept in stock through 100-cu-ft capacity for rapid shipment.

u25b4_83886.jpgCustom Designed Dual Mixer Batch Blending System

This mixing and blending system consists of two mixers: one vertical mixer equipped with a shreader and agitator plus a liquid tank for blending proprietary ingredients with a liquid binder that is then pumped into a 100-cu-ft horizontal, paddlestyle mixer with other ingredients to form the product consistency. This is then discharged into an extruder for further processing. The key to the system is the advanced controls that allow the operator to measure and monitor the materials during each batch mixing cycle. Marion Mixers, Marion, IA 319-377-6371www.marionmixers.com

 u25bd_83887.jpgContinuous Blender

The Vibra blender utilizes a combination of a rotating paddle and material fluidization to blend dry solids with the ease of liquids. Gentle controlled vibration of the mixing trough fluidizes ingredients on entry where a cut and fold mixing rotor provides agitation. Material flows through the blender by gravity, making it completely self regulating to changes of infeed rate. The unit’s simple, rugged design offers dusttight operation, easy cleanout, and years of maintenance-free operation. The blenders are available in capacities up to 1500 cu ft/hr. u25c6_83888.jpgPowder Induction and Dispersion System

This new Fastfeed model is designed to double inline powder delivery capabilities, offering controlled feed rates from 3 to 400 lb/ min. It provides consistent powder delivery even as viscosity and solids levels increase, ensuring that the system will never plug or foul. The system offers the benefits of an inline, skid-mounted dispersion system that feeds powders and disperses them instantly. It further allows processors to add dry ingredients to mix vessels in a more ergonomic fashion, reducing operator injuries and providing the shear required for today’s changing and tougher ingredients, insuring maximum yield.

80698.tifConical Mixers and Dryers

Conical mixers and dryers offer high mixing accuracy and low shear force to the products being mixed, while requiring low energy consumption and the ability for variable volume filling down to 20% of overall volume design on powders, pastes, and slurries. Many different processing tasks can be carried out simultaneously to include blending, drying, mixing, heating and cooling, crystallization, granulation, agglomeration, and the injection of liquids or gases directly into the batch during processing in a totally enclosed safe environment. Typical applications range from plastics, spices, adhesives, soap powders, and food premixes, to shampoos, toothpastes, gelatins, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. 80699.tifFluidized Zone Mixer

The Bella fluidized zone mixer achieves fast, high-capacity, low shear, precision mixing of either dry bulk solids or liquids with solids. Regardless of particle size, shape, or density, materials are mixed with a fast, efficient, and gentle action: typical mixing times are 60 seconds or less. A weightless zone created by low-speed counter rotating shafts generates low friction without shear. This makes it ideal for fragile products that cannot tolerate rough handling. Even flakes or spray-dried bodies remain intact. The Bella XN mixer includes twin bomb-bay door openings for fast, efficient discharging and to minimize segregation during discharge. The unit is available in stainless steel for sanitary applications. Custom sizes, finishes, and materials of construction are available upon request. 80700.tifDouble Arm Mixer

This 300-gal double arm mixer with overlapping blades was designed to be used for drying of specialty metal powders. Due to the extreme weight and doughy consistency of the product as it is dried, the heavy-duty nature of this equipment combined with the unique overlapping blade design provides the right amount of strength, power, shear, and energy to mix, blend, and dry this difficult-to-handle product. 80698.tifMixers and Blenders with Cantilever Shaft

The Easy-Clean cantilever shaft eliminates one set of bearings and seals at the non-drive end of the shaft. Along with the full diameter hinged and safety, interlocked door, this improves access for cleaning and hygiene. The completely contained mixing media provides an ideal environment for dry, semi-dry, or moist powder applications. These mixers and blenders are available in various designs with a choice of plough, paddle, or interrupted spiral agitator. The Gardner line also includes double cone blenders, continuous mixers, stirred bunkers and processors, and reactor mixers. Kemutec, Bristol, PA 215-788-8013   www.kemutecusa.com

80699.tifMixing and Blending System

These mixing and blending systems combine performance-proven construction with integrated automation to provide consistent blend quality and reliable downstream supply to bulk material processing and packaging operations. They are designed to ensure thorough blends, maintain material integrity, reduce cycle times, protect operators, and enhance total plant safety using best practice risk assessment design procedures. A full line of systems is available, from 100,000-lb-capacity, high-volume, fully-automated, continuous-duty systems to 100-lbcapacity, precision batch mixers. The systems are constructed of heavy-gauge carbon steel, Type 304 stainless steel, or custom surface finishes. National Bulk Equipment Inc., Holland, MI 616-399-2220 www.nbe-inc.com

 80700.tifInline Miniature Rotary Batch Mixer

This inline miniature rotary batch mixer gently blends batches up to 5 cu ft in parts as small as one per million with complete uniformity in less than three minutes, evacuates the batch with no residual, and can be sanitized rapidly with no tools. The Model 700-TH-5-SS stainlesssteel unit features a stationary inlet and outlet for inline operation and a rotating drum with proprietary mixing flights that tumble, turn, cut, and fold material gently. Equally efficient across its useable capacity range of 5 to 0.25 cu ft, the mixer has a batch weight capacity of 500 lb as standard, with higher capacities optional. The internal flights elevate material facilitating complete discharge, allowing rapid cleaning of all-stainless contact surfaces including continuous polished welds having 0.25-in. radii. The unit can be equipped with a CIP cleaning nozzle and spray line for liquid additions or coatings. Munson Machinery Company, Inc., Utica, NY 800-944-6644 www.munsonmachinery.com

83895.tifBatch Mixer with Intensifiers

Mixing applications that require a thorough blending of ingredients can make use of this batch mixer with intensifiers. The intensifiers act as choppers that break up clumps that form in a batch. They complement the agitator when blending as well as reduce the blending time of minor ingredients. Various intensifier designs are available in addition to the standard tulip blade design. Lab testing is recommended in order to determine the optimal configuration. Mixers are available in the Mixall, Powermix, and Sanimix designs. Ribbon and paddle agitators can be used with any model ranging from 1/3 to 750 cu ft. Custom models are available in larger sizes. S. Howes, Silver Creek, NY 716-934-2611 www.showes.com

83896.tifSplit Shaft Seals for Dry Blenders

MECO custom-engineered shaft seals are available fully-split to retrofit blenders, mixers, and other rotating bulk process equipment, without the removal of bearings or drives. MECO seals offer an effective alternative to packing glands where they are failing to contain dry powders, pastes, slurries, corrosives, fluids, solvents, vapors, and gases. Sanitary seal models are also available, that can be easily disassembled for routine cleaning. The seals are ideal for dry, abrasive powder processes in industries where frequent product changes and washdowns are required. Woodex Bearing Company, Inc., Georgetown, ME 207-371-2210
