pbs0708p5a.jpgCartridge Dust Collectors with Explosion Vent
Gold-series dust collectors are now available with a high-performance explosion vent for applications involving capture of explosive dusts. The “X-vent” is manufactured to NFPA standards and is CE and ATEX certified for European use. The multiribbed vent delivers a high negative static operating pressure rating of –80 in. WC for enhanced performance, and is designed to open up at +1 psi (30 in. WC). Rated for 350ºF operating temperature, the X-vent is standard on new Gold-series collectors requiring explosion protection and is also suitable for retrofit use. Made of sanitary food-grade stainless steel, it has broad application in the food and grain processing, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

pbs0708p18b.jpgModular Cartridge Bin Vent
While material is pneumatically conveyed into the storage tank, fine airborne particles are trapped by the unit’s large cartridge filter. This enables clean air to pass from the tank into the atmosphere. Timed bursts of air from a compressed air accumulator pulse the cartridge filter, dislodging any fines and returning them to the storage tank. The bin vent’s plenum features a built-in weather hood and specially designed diffuser that enables each air pulse to clean the entire filter. The unit’s modular design and low overall height allows the operator to perform maintenance from the tank deck without tools. The filter cartridge is easily accessed for service without tools. To further facilitate ease of maintenance, the maximum height of the unit is less than 3 ft from the tank deck to provide easy access without the need for additional climbing.

pbs0708p31a.jpgSpark-Detection Systems
Spark and ember generation is a constant danger in production facilities where combustible materials are being worked, processed, transported, dried, filtered, or exhausted. Dust-collection filters, bins, and even complete production lines are the areas of greatest risk. These spark-detection systems can reduce the risk of dust fires and explosions in pneumatic conveying systems by detecting and extinguishing sparks and embers before they reach the collection and storage equipment. The new CC7000 system provides more expandability, features, and flexibility. The system is expandable to over 100 zones and is FM-approved.

pbs0708p31b.jpgDry Sorbent Injection Systems for Coal-Fired Power Plants
Concerns about coal-fired power plant emissions have led to tightened regulatory standards, increased compliance requirements, and the need for more stringent controls. These full-dry sorbent injection systems mitigate sulfur and mercury emissions. Dilute-phase positive-pressure pneumatic conveying technology is used to continuously transfer dry bulk sorbent material from storage silos to injection ports on boiler flue gas ducts. Emissions are reduced by a chemical reaction between the injected material and pollutants in the flue gas. Each system is custom-engineered with features designed to prevent common problems and maintain production. The entire system is controlled by a PLC and HMIs tied into the plant’s DCS.

pbs0708p31c.jpgVibrating Level Sensor for Dust Collection Systems
The Model PZP vibrating point level sensor can detect bulk solid materials with a density as light as 1.0 to 1.5 pcf (pounds per cubic foot) and up to 100 pcf. In addition, the PZP does not require calibration and uses a unique diamond shape single element that, unlike traditional tuning forks, is immune to material packing and bridging. The sensor uses dual piezoquartz crystals that respond to electrical excitation by vibrating, which results in the vibration of the sensing element at about 280 Hz. The PZP’s diamond-shape sensing element and electronics provides the sensitivity to detect very lightweight and heavier materials. This ultralightweight sensing capability makes the sensor well suited to dust-collection applications.
