Catalent Pharma Solutions Appoints New Senior V.P. of Quality and Regulatory Affairs

Catalent Pharma Solutions Inc. has announced the appointment of Sharon Johnson as senior vice president of quality and regulatory affairs effective August 2009. Johnson will be located at Catalent’s corporate headquarters in Somerset, NJ. Ed Thiele, the incumbent in this role, is planning to retire in early 2010.
 
Johnson has more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She joins Catalent after having been vice president of quality assurance for GE Healthcare Biosciences, Medical Diagnostics, in Buckinghamshire, England. Before GE, Johnson was quality director for Baxter Healthcare’s Europe operations. Prior to that, she was with Rhone Poulenc Rorer as quality manager for Sterile Products and Microbiology, in Essex, England. Earlier in her career, she held quality and microbiology positions with Berk Pharmaceuticals in East Sussex, England, and Medicines Testing Laboratory, Edinburgh, Scotland.
 
Johnson holds a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) in Industrial Pharmaceutical Studies with Distinction from Brighton University and has a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree (BSc Hon) in Biological Sciences/Microbiology from North East Surrey College of Technology. She is eligible for nomination as a Qualified Person under the permanent provision of EEC Directive 75/319 and was appointed as a Qualified Person Assessor by the UK Institute of Biology in 1998, currently the vice chair of the IOB QP Assessor panel.
