Canon Communications to Launch Process Technology Expo West in 2009

As a follow-up to this year’s highly successful PTXi (Process Technology Expo International) show at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, producer Canon Communications has announced that next year it will launch a western regional edition—PTX (Process Technology Expo) West. The new event takes place April 21-23, 2009 in Southern California’s Anaheim Convention Center.

PTXi attracted 5000 senior processing managers from all 50 states and 41 countries to its 400-company exposition. “Exhibitors reported a robust event where thousands of senior production executives representing the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical sectors traveled from local facilities as well as unusually long distances to specify and purchase new process equipment and automation technology,” said Canon’s director of sales Joshua Dome. “Sixty-two percent of exhibitors reported taking requests for proposals during the show for specific projects and the average dollar value for these quotes was well over $800,000. The success of the show was really a testimony to the strength and growth of these sectors–especially food manufacturing.” PTXi is a biennial show and as such will next be held in 2010.

PTX West came at the request of major exhibitors seeking a single industry forum to take place during the off year to the international event. "The need for a single biennial regional process technology show has been determined by the Process Equipment Manufacturers' Association (PEMA) and Canon after an extensive two-year study," stated the PEMA Leadership Team. "Canon has proven it can deliver a highly qualified audience and is one of the best event marketers in the business. PEMA is the preeminent association for manufacturers of process equipment. Therefore, Canon and PEMA have joined expertise and encourage suppliers and buyers to support the Powder Bulk Solids/PTX West Show."

Leading exhibitors who’ve already confirmed their participation in PTX West include American Process Systems, Fenwal Protection Systems, Gardner Denver, General Kinematics, Hapman, Jenike & Johanson, Microtrac, Minox/Elcan, Prater-Sterling, Rapat Corp., and REMBE.

The new event is ideally positioned to deliver the west coast’s key process industries of food, chemical, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The location makes travel from Northern California, the Pacific Northwest, and the entire western U.S., convenient and accessible to international attendees from Central America and Asia. “With visitors from 41 countries, yet nearly half of the attendees coming from the five states that comprise the contiguous central region, PTXi demonstrated both the global and local pull of a strong process technology show," said Canon's marketing director Dan Cutrone. "We are excited about recreating this same dynamic at PTX West but obviously with a greater western region contingent."

PTX/Powder & Bulk Solids events are the only ones in North America uniquely dedicated to showcasing process equipment, automation, and quality technology to process manufacturers. PTX West will include 200 leading exhibitors and feature a comprehensive conference agenda. Part of the event will be a new co-located show–-FoodProcess-–positioned to serve the western region’s $84 billion food process industry sector.
