Atlas Copco Named to Global 100 for Fifth Consecutive Year

Atlas Copco was once again named to the list of Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, the fifth consecutive year the company has earned this recognition at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Only half of those companies named to the 2009 list remained among the Global 100 in 2010.

“We believe the sustainable development of Atlas Copco will benefit all of our stakeholders,” said Annika Berglund, senior vice president corporate communications, Atlas Copco. “When we say we are committed to sustainable productivity, it means that we do everything we can to ensure reliable, lasting results with a responsible use of resources – human, natural, and capital.”

The 2010 Global 100 includes companies from 24 countries encompassing all sectors of the economy. The companies were evaluated against an objective “sustainable path” standard for energy, carbon, water, and waste ratios. Other social indicators, such as the diversity of board directors, were considered. This year the aim of the Global 100 was to highlight the global corporations that have been most proactive in managing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.

“It means a great deal to us to once again be named among the Global 100 sustainable companies,” said Paul Hense, president of Atlas Copco Compressors LLC, with North American headquarters in Rock Hill, SC. “Being a good corporate citizen is among our primary goals each year, and we will continue to look for opportunities to be leading stewards of the environment whenever and wherever possible.”
