Atlas Copco Compressors Opens Air Compressor Refurbishment Center in Charlotte

On December 9, 2011, Atlas Copco Compressors will officially open the OriginAIR Compressor Center, a facility designed to provide a single, centralized competence center for the refurbishment of air compressors, dryers, and associated components in North America. Located in a 24,000-sq-ft facility in Charlotte, NC, OriginAIR will add six people to the local Atlas Copco workforce by the end of the year, with expansion planned for 2012.

“Being innovative and progressive is one way to engage in environmentally friendly business; breathing new life into previously used equipment is another,” said Andrew Walker, general manager for Atlas Copco Compressors LLC, located in Rock Hill, SC. “The new OriginAIR facility will offer complete refurbishment of oil-injected compressor elements, valves for Greenfield and Crepelle compressors, and full overhauls of compressors and dryers in support of our restored-equipment business.”

Technicians at the OriginAIR facility will completely refurbish equipment to its original condition and specifications. New industrial parts, sand-blasting cabinets, lapping machines, and a wash bay will help restore equipment back to the industry-leading performance customers expect from Atlas Copco. Infrastructure improvements at the facility support compressor testing capabilities for machines up to 500 hp.

The new operation adds to Atlas Copco Compressors’ more than 450 employees in the Charlotte region, including the company’s North American Headquarters in Rock Hill, SC, and their North American Distribution Center in Charlotte.
