Prater-Sterling Acquires L-R Systems

R. Scott Prater, President/CEO of Prater–Sterling, has announced the acquisition of L-R Systems, a leading supplier of material-handing systems and other processing equipment to the plastic, food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

In addition to pneumatic conveying systems for fine powders and plastic pellets, L-R Systems, founded in 1980, also manufactures blenders, feeders, hopper loaders, central loading systems, dryers, plastic granulators, dust collectors, cyclones, bag breakers and fillers, Gaylord dumpers, fillers, and tilters, and provides complete mechanical installation, as well as installation of electrical controls.

The company’s manufacturing plant is located in Joliet, IL, which is about 30 miles due south of Prater-Sterling’s corporate offices. The acquisition allows for a strategic optimization of Prater-Sterling’s products, expanding the company’s overall capabilities to serve its worldwide customers. 
 
Prater-Sterling is a privately owned family business that started in 1925. The acquisition enables the company to add to its state-of-the-art equipment line that includes size reduction, separation, metering, compacting, and batch weighing, as well as control systems for a range of applications including food processing, chemical, agriculture, minerals, plastics, and pharmaceuticals.
