Gericke USA has added a new, explosion-proof lump breaker to its New Jersey test laboratory.
ATEX-certified for zones 20, 21, and 22 for providing a high level of protection in areas with permanent or prolonged risk of explosion under normal operating conditions, the Nibbler model NB 300/350 was installed for testing new product formulations on full-size equipment and for assessing how existing products and/or processes may be improved by upgrading to the company's size reduction system. The Nibbler features dust-tight access doors, 10 bar-rated construction, and sealed bearings as standard to permit coarse and fine size reduction of a wide range of combustible and non-combustible materials.
Ideal for food, nutrition, chemical, pharmaceutical, plastics, and other processors, the Nibbler deagglomerator cuts the material safely and quietly using a proprietary low speed, high-torque, rotating paddle assembly that shears the material through a screen without generating the high heat or excess fine particles that contribute to high risk situations. For easy, complete cleaning the Nibbler model NB 300/350 includes a quick-release basket assembly that may be removed in seconds with no tools.
The ATEX-certified Nibbler on-site at the Gericke test laboratory is one of seven different models in the lump breaker line, which also includes hygienic designs for sanitary processing and temperature-resistant designs for refrigerated and frozen products and cold storage installations. Tests on the Nibbler may be shown via live stream, split screen video conferencing, online video or live in person at the test facility by appointment.
