New FM Software Improves Metal Detector Performance
April 7, 2014
Fortress Technology, a global leader in the manufacture of metal detector systems, has released FM software for its metal detectors. This software has been developed to be compatible with all previously manufactured Fortress detectors, and can be field installed on its Phantom and Stealth models.
The FM software analyzes the detection signal and uses an algorithm to calculate the signal strength based on a function of time and amplitude. This can significantly improve performance in certain applications – including large bags – by at least 40%.
“This is great news for our existing customers who need to achieve better sensitivities to satisfy FSMA or customer specification requirements,” said Steve Gidman, president of Fortress Technology.
As part of its “never obsolete” commitment to its customers, this release reinforces Fortress’s mandate to always develop its new technology to be backwards compatible and accessible without customers having to purchase an entirely new system. Fortress continues to provide complete support for existing systems with readily available parts and a global service team for customers.
Fortress metal detectors provide speed, accuracy, and simple operation, and are used widely within a range of food industry sectors, including bakery, meats, packaged meals, dairy, confectionery, fresh foods, frozen foods, textile, and pharmaceutical. Fortress has manufacturing offices in Canada, the UK, and Brazil, serving North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
