Mettler-Toledo Safeline Offers Free X-ray Inspection User Guide

Mettler-Toledo Safeline, a worldwide leader in product inspection, is now offering a comprehensive user-guide to x-ray inspection. Aimed at food and pharmaceutical manufacturers, X-ray Inspection Guide – Building an Effective Program shows how manufacturers and brand owners in the food, pharmaceutical, and related industries can develop an effective inspection program to catch contaminants and monitor the consistency of product presentation and quality.

Implementing an inspection program with x-ray inspection systems can help protect customers, product quality, and brand integrity. The guide shows how to implement such a program and how this program can help manufacturers satisfy industry standards such as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). "The pressures on manufacturers to produce contaminant-free products of a consistently high quality are relentless," says Joe Gianfalla, the marketing manager of Metter-Toledo Safeline. "Our guide recommends good practice on how to set up factory inspection systems that satisfy legal obligations, maintain product safety, and enhance brand values without compromising manufacturing speed or efficiency."

The 16 chapters of the guide cover the entire range of x-ray inspection issues, including basic science, health and safety, and practical techniques for improving inspection effectiveness. The guide is illustrated throughout with diagrams, illustrations, and x-ray images taken from actual production runs. The imagery brings typical production-line equipment and common detection problems to life.

“X-Ray Inspection Guide explains everything a manufacturer needs to know about choosing, installing, and managing an x-ray inspection system," says Gianfalla. "Those who already have a system in place will learn how to improve their working practices, and those who are new to the technology will discover that there's so much more to x-ray inspection than detecting contaminants before they leave the production line.

“The guide is the definitive guide to using x-ray inspection systems within high-speed manufacturing processes. We've drawn on the collective wisdom of our own technicians and engineers, as well as the everyday experience of factory managers. It's a practical, hands-on guide that should be on the shelves of every food and pharmaceutical company in the world."
