In an effort to help customers maintain the highest level of safety in their workplaces, Eriez Orange University offers comprehensive guidelines for handling powerful magnetic equipment. Magnet safety information and resources are available on the company’s website, including a downloadable 20-page presentation on industrial magnet safety.

The industrial magnet safety presentation covers general magnet safety and potential hazards, guidelines for magnet handling and storage, and an overview of risks associated with pacemakers and other medical devices. It also includes a quiz that utilizes photos depicting safe and unsafe magnet handling practices.

Additionally, visitors can download a full-length article with magnetic separator safety tips. An excerpt from Eriez’ installation, operation, and maintenance manual is also available to enable customers to obtain text they may wish to use as a start in preparing a safety label for their facility. “To avoid injuries resulting from magnets, all organizations should develop and enforce proper procedures for working around them,” says Tina Swanson, Eriez safety and risk manager.
