Gericke USA unveils a line of ATEX-certified centrifugal sifters that permit safe operation with combustible materials in explosion-hazard environments.

Suitable for installation in ATEX zone 20 internal and zone 21 external, the GS sifters earned the certification for providing a high level of protection in areas where an explosive atmosphere with a cloud of combustible dust is likely to occur or remain present continuously or for long periods of time during normal operation. The durable powder sifters feature a proprietary design armed with ATEX-rated components including a heavy-duty motor and safety switches, air set solenoid valve, and air purge lip seals as standard.

Developed to offer a high-throughput screening option for hazardous environments that also supports worker safety and aids in regulatory compliance, the explosion-proof sifters pass salts, flours, sugars, spices, and other fine particulates through a mesh screen and divert oversized particles to the discharge while securing the material within a dust-tight housing. The sifters are ideal for separating granular and powdered products into two streams by particle size, removing foreign matter, and for conditioning materials prior to entering production. For easy cleaning, the screen and basket may be safely accessed and quickly removed for complete cleaning.

The line of ATEX-certified GS sifters comprises four models, each available with screen mesh sizes from 100–4,000 µm, throughput rates up to 120 tn/hr, and a choice of surface finishes to suit the material. Custom models are also offered.
