Three novel coronavirus cases have been identified among workers at the General Mills plant in Murfreesboro, TN, local news organizations reported. The company said it has put extra sanitation and screening procedures in place at the facility to curb further transmission of the virus.
“Like many, we are going to be impacted by the virus. We have three confirmed cases at our Murfreesboro manufacturing plant,” the company said in a statement quoted by Fox News affiliate WZTV. “We have clear protocols in place to deal with a situation where an employee experiences an illness or needs to stay home from work to care for others. Right now, all of our plants are open and operating, and we hope to keep safely making the food the world loves and needs right now.
General Mills has started to check the temperatures of workers entering the Murfreesboro plant and encouraging staff at the site to don face masks. Social distancing measures are also in use in the facility.
“We are taking all appropriate measures to ensure our employees are following our best practices, and CDC and WHO guidelines, to keep themselves, their families, and our communities safe,” the company said in coverage by The Tennessean.
The Murfreesboro plant manufactures Toaster Strudels and Yoplait brand yogurt, according to the newspaper.
