The US Food & Drug Administration stated that Great Value brand 6 pack of 100% Apple Juice packaged in 8 oz. PET plastic bottles was recalled by Walmart.

The 9,535 cases of Great Value brand apple juice sold in stores across the US were found to contain potentially harmful levels of inorganic arsenic. FDA finalized guidance for manufacturers that said apple juice should contain no more than ten parts per billion (ppb). The apple juice in the recall contains 13.2 ppb.

The voluntary recall affects retail locations in: AL, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, and WV, as well as Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. Here is a list of exact store locations.

Florida bottler Refresco Beverages US Inc., with production in Europe, North America, and Mexico, recalled the juice after discovering levels of the chemical contaminant that exceeded industry standards.

“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority,” Walmart spokesperson Molly Blakeman said in a statement. “We have removed this product from our impacted stores and are working with the supplier to investigate.”

To date, there have been no reports of illness.
