The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology, part of the School of Engineering at the University of Greenwich in Kent, UK, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The Centre specializes in solving problems related to the storage and handling of granular and powder materials. Clients include companies in the food and drink, pharmaceutical, minerals, renewable energy, chemicals, plastics, recycling, metals, household goods, and paper industries.
In 1974 the department was set up initially at the request of the then Head of School who had completed his PhD in 2 phase solid gas flow and discovered that the Polytechnic did not cater for this discipline. Fifty years later, The Wolfson Centre is renowned for its expertise and experience in the troubleshooting of pneumatic conveying systems.
In the past 3 years nearly 200 delegates have attended the Wolfson Centre courses in various pneumatic conveying subjects. These courses give delegates the opportunity to speak to the experts and network with other attendees.
Over the next 2 months the basic and advanced courses are being offered to engineers whose responsibilities lie within all aspects of maintaining or designing pneumatic conveying systems.
Pneumatic Conveying of Bulk Materials: October 29-31, 2024 (basic course – ideal for new starters); includes practical workshop
Pneumatic Conveying System Design: November 13-14, 2024 (advanced course)
Rotary Valves; Design, Selection and Operational Issues: November 27
Courses takes place in Chatham, Kent.
Wolfson Centre Director, Mike Bradley, an expert with nearly 40 years of experience in pneumatic conveying technology is the instructor. He will be aided by Atul Sharma, one of the Centre’s consultant engineers.
