A blaze broke out in a dust collector Friday afternoon at the Plastics Engineering Co. plant in Sheboygan, WI, causing an estimated $500,000 in damage, several local news organizations reported. One worker received treatment for smoke inhalation.

Crews were called to the North Avenue location around 2 p.m. and discovered the blaze started in the dust collection system on the northeast corner of the facility’s roof, an account by SeehaferNews.com said. Embers also ignited a few smaller fires.

The flames were doused within a half hour, according to coverage by news broadcaster WHBL. Several area fire departments also responded to the call.

Plastics Engineering Co. is a manufacturer of phenolic resins and thermoset molding materials, according to information on its website. Its products are sold under the Plenco brand.
