A chemical reaction injured about a dozen people Monday at the Kinpak plastic fabrication plant in Montgomery, AL, according to a post on the Montgomery Fire/Rescue Facebook page. Three of those affected were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening conditions. 

Montgomery Fire Capt. Jason Cupps told NBC News affiliate WSFA that the building was evacuated after several chemicals were mixed accidentally. Responding crews worked to air out the site. The chemicals involved in the incident were phosphoric and hydrochloric acids, Capt. Cupps said in an interview with the Montgomery Advertiser.

Officials said there is no risk to the public. 

The 300,000-sq-ft Kinpak facility in Montgomery includes manufacturing, blending, packing, and distribution capabilities, an R&D laboratory, and a quality control center, information on the company’s website said.
