Specialty foods firm T. Marzetti Co. is making a $92.8 investment to add 184,500 sq ft of space and new production and packaging capabilities to its Horse Cave, KY salad dressings and sauces production facility, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced in a February 27 release.

During the project, the company will acquire new machinery to boost production of dressings and sauces, open eight new processing kitchens, and add some new packaging lines. T. Marzetti said it initiated the expansion in response to increased consumer demand. Three kitchens and two packaging lines are slated to become operational in the first year of the project.

“The workforce and community here have provided us with great support since we first built and began production at the T. Marzetti facility 14 years ago. The need for this expansion has been driven by the tremendous success of our key customer partners and growth through innovation,” Dave Ciesinski, the president and chief executive officer of T. Marzetti’s parent company, Lancaster Colony, said in a statement. “Our decision to expand here is a testament to our strong ties in the community, our skilled and hard-working employees, and the consistent support from the local and state entities during our many years of operation here in Horse Cave.”

T. Marzetti’s investment is expected to add 140 new full-time jobs to the plant’s current headcount of about 500 workers. The company plans to complete the expansion in summer 2021.

Based in Columbus, OH, T. Marzetti has 14 facilities across Alabama, California, Kentucky, Iowa, Massachusetts, and Ohio. The firm’s brands include Chatham Village, Amish Kitchens, Girard’s, New York Bakery, and Marzetti.
