Food and beverage giant Nestle is planning an investment of $200 million to acquire and install new equipment at its Anderson, IN, several national and local news organizations reported. The project is also expected to create 30 new positions at the facility.
The Swiss-owned firm will appear before the Anderson City Council next week to gain preliminary approval for a seven-year 70% tax abatement for the expansion, coverage by Inside Indiana Business said. Members of the council may issue a final decision on the incentives at a January 9 meeting.
“In a time when many companies are scaling back their investment due to uncertainty in the global market, I am thrilled to see Nestle continue to make substantial investments in their Anderson facilities,” Anderson Mayor Thomas Broderick Jr. told the Anderson Herald-Bulletin.
Nestle opened the Anderson facility 10 years ago to produce Nesquik Ready-to-Drink and Coffee-Mate non-dairy coffee creamer. Over the years, the facility also started to produce Boost nutritional drinks.
Since the company established its presence in the Indiana community, it has carried out several multi-million-dollar expansion projects at the site. Two years ago, Nestle announced that it was spending $80 million to purchase new equipment for the site.
