Kansas City, MO-based National Beef Packing Company LLC plans to invest about $30 million in an expansion project at its Moultrie, GA plant, a press release announced Monday.

“We are experiencing an increased demand for fresh consumer ready protein products. This expansion will allow us to deliver on this growing opportunity,” the firm’s vice president of case ready operations, Dave Davidson, said in a statement.

The firm plans to purchase new processing and packaging equipment as part of the effort and hire on an additional 100 workers at the site.

National Beef’s project is expected to wrap up in the fourth quarter of 2018. The firm generated sales of $7.2 billion in fiscal year 2016.
