The Canadian subsidiary of American confectionery, pet food and food products maker Mars Inc. has completed a 50,000-sq-ft expansion of its Bolton, ON production plant that will boosts the facility’s capacity of rice and grain products sold under its Uncle Ben’s and Seeds of Change brands, the provincial government of Ontario announced via press release Wednesday.

Calling it the “largest capital investment” in the history of Mars Food, the firm invested CAD $77 million, or about $61.8 million, in the Mars Canada plant in Bolton. The expansion project will result in the creation of 27 new full-time jobs.

“The expansion of our Bolton facility greatly increases our capacity to meet the growing demand for our ready-to-heat products, bringing more healthy, convenient, and tasty rice and grains to the dinner table,” said David Dusangh, general manager of Mars Food Canada, in the province’s release.

Mars Canada invested CAD $70 million in its plant in Newmarket, ON earlier this year.
