Fresenius Kabi Invests $100M to Expand North Carolina Plant

German health care firm Fresenius Kabi plans to invest $100 million in a project to expand its Wilson, NC manufacturing plant and build a separate, new facility there, creating “hundreds” of new positions, the state’s Department of Commerce announced Monday.
The expansion of its existing site, which presently focuses on making ready-to-administer syringes, and the new plant will produce pharmaceutical products for hospitals and clinics in the U.S. and Canada.
“Our strategy is to produce in the U.S. and to invest in products and operations that meet important customer needs while helping make health care more accessible for patients,” said Senior Vice President of Global Operations for Fresenius Kabi North America Steven R. Nowicki, in the firm’s release. “We’re pleased to continue this approach at our site in North Carolina.”
Fresenius Kabi said it will hire engineers, production specialists, scientists, and managers at both sites when the project reaches completion.
The firm also recently initiated construction on a $250 million expansion of its manufacturing plant in Melrose Park, IL.
