Engineered sand products firm Rechsand is gearing up to open its first North American manufacturing facility in Yuma, AZ where the company will produce green building materials from desert sand, the Arizona Commerce Authority announced in a September 25 press release.

“Rechsand manufactures vanguard sand-based water-saving technology. This technology promises to revolutionize industries as diverse as agriculture, construction, and petrochemicals,” Jason Lu, head of international business development at the company, said in a statement. “We think Arizona is the ideal location for our first North American operation. We look forward to creating our world-class products right here in Arizona.”

Once operational, the facility will contain production, development and distribution assets and have a headcount of over 110 workers. Rechsand said it selected the Arizona location because of its proximity to raw materials and important markets in North America.

The company’s portfolio includes green building materials like pavers, water diversion ditches, and sands that conserve water in construction, petrochemicals, and agriculture operations. 

Rechsand currently operates 15 plants in China.
