Baked goods manufacturer Bimbo Bakeries USA will close its production plant in Sioux City, IA this October, cutting about 80 jobs as it shifts production from the site to other facilities, several local news organizations and trade publications reported.

Production at the Dakota Avenue site will be transferred to other facilities within the company’s network.

“After careful analysis and consideration, we determined it is most efficient to redistribute production to other bakeries in our system to better meet market demand,” Bimbo Bakeries USA Vice President of Region Operations David Tormena said in a statement printed by television news station KTIV.

The facility was acquired by Bimbo in 2010 during its $959 million purchase of Sara Lee, according to coverage by the Sioux City Journal. Another Bimbo plant was shuttered in Sioux City in 2014.

Bimbo Bakeries USA is owned by Mexico-based corporation Grupo Bimbo.
