Coatings manufacturer Axalta Coatings Systems announced plans on July 19 to open the company’s second production facility for bonded metallic powder coatings in Europe in Landshut, Germany.

“We are excited to expand our production capabilities in Germany with state-of-the-art equipment that will continue to offer customers the highest quality products and increased capacity,” Klaus Gast, business director for the powder coatings business in Europe at Axalta, said in a company press release. “The new equipment will create greater efficiency, faster turns and the ability to produce small batches at short notice as needed. This gives us greater flexibility and offers even better outcomes and service for our customers.”

Bonded metallic powder coatings produced at the new facility in Landshut are intended for use in architectural and design applications on façade elements, profiles, aluminum and steel cladding, and as a coating on windows, doors, and indoor and outdoor furniture.

Axalta’s metallic powder coatings are produced according to the requirements of Qualicoat Classes I and II and GSB International quality standards Standard and Master. Another Axalta plant in Montbrison, France also manufactures the products.

The company’s powder coatings portfolio currently contains over 150 metallic powder coatings.
