Luverne, MN-based custom spray drying and animal feed ingredient producer Great Plains Processing (GPP) plans to build a production plant in Yankton, SD after receiving a $1.15 million loan from the state’s Board of Economic Development, The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development announced in a press release Monday.

The loan will enable GPP to acquire about 20 acres of land and a 40,000-sq-ft “spec building.” The facility will create 20 new, full-time jobs when it opens and is expected to generate more positions in three to five years, the company said.

“Great Plains Processing made the right decision to expand to South Dakota. With a presence in more than 40 countries, a commitment to a quality product and service, and its Midwest values and work ethic, it’s no wonder GPP fits well into our business environment,” Gov. Dennis Daugaard said in a statement.

GPP makes products for a variety of animal species including bovine, equine, swine, and pets.
