Consumer packaged goods company Unilever recently entered into an agreement to purchase Onnit, an Austin, TX-based supplier of supplements that support mental performance, emotional wellness, and physical fitness.

The company’s flagship product, Alpha BRAIN, is a nootropic supplement that improves memory, focus and cognition. Onnit also provides functional nutrition and fitness essentials solutions and a digital content platform that contains articles, interviews, advice, and fitness programs for customers.

“Onnit is a leading brand in the fast-growing nootropics segment. With its holistic health offering, and digital-first model, Onnit perfectly complements our growing portfolio of innovative wellness and supplement brands that include OLLY, Equilibra, Liquid I.V., and SmartyPants Vitamins,” said Peter ter Kulve, president of Home Care and Health & Wellbeing at Unilever, in a company release.

Following the close of the deal, Onnit will remain headquartered in Austin under the leadership of CEO Jason Havey. The firm’s founder, Aubrey Marcus, will remain with Onnit as a brand ambassador.

Terms of the transaction were not revealed. The deal is subject to approvals and customary closing conditions.
