Drug compounding firm Pine Pharmaceuticals recently completed a $8.6 million project to add 50,000 sq ft of space and new equipment to its Tonawanda, NY manufacturing facility, Gov, Kathy Hochul announced Monday.

“We are so grateful for the support New York State has shown us during our expansion process,” Alfonse Muto, owner of Pine Pharmaceuticals, said in a release. “We are proud to be leading the charge right here in Western New York by creating dozens of new jobs and providing essential pharmaceuticals that will dramatically improve patient care across the country.”

The added story at the sterile compounding plant tripled the size of the existing structure and includes space for warehousing, production, and quality. Pine Pharmaceuticals also added ISO-certified cleanrooms and manufacturing equipment to the location.

Additional room at the Tonawanda plant will be used to manufacture IV bags and other products, and for inspection, packaging, labeling, and storage.

“Pine Pharmaceuticals investment in Western New York will help fill a critical need for US manufactured drugs, retain and create much-needed jobs, and continue to boost our state’s economic growth,” said Gov. Hochul in a statement.

The compounding firm supplies products to ophthalmologists, retinal specialists, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, medical practices, and clinics.
