Over the counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals and self-care products manufacturer Perrigo Company revealed plans this week to construct a new North American headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI. The company said the site will enhance its presence in west Michigan, where it has operations in Allegan, Holland, and Grand Rapids.

Located in Michigan State University’s (MSU) Grand Rapids Innovation Park, known as the “Medical Mile,” the headquarters will provide Perrigo with access to a range of academic, research, and clinical experts.

“Our future North American Corporate Headquarters in Grand Rapids will be designed to help us create adaptable workspaces that support cross-functional collaboration, work safely in a post-COVID-19 new normal world and will enhance our ability to attract diverse, highly skilled professionals,” said Murray S. Kessler, president and chief executive officer of Perrigo, in a statement. “What is especially exciting is the location within the world-renowned Medical Mile, which will allow Perrigo to leverage the expertise of healthcare and innovation thought leaders who share our passion for making self-care accessible, affordable and effective for all.”

Over its 15-year lease agreement, Perrigo will invest $44.7 million in the headquarters facility. The state is providing $3.7 million to offset the company’s costs.

“We believe our new space will enable meaningful collaboration for our teams and it places us at the epicenter of an innovation hub and amidst a full continuum of research, health care delivery, and consumer wellness organizations that can provide inspiration for Perrigo’s growth strategy,” Rich Sorota, executive vice president and president, Consumer Self-Care Americas, said in the release.
