Swiss food and beverage firm Nestle is partnering with cannabis formulations and drug delivery systems company Geocann to launch a line of CBD soft gel formulations in Europe that use the patented VESlorb drug delivery system after successfully rolling out the products in the US.

Sold under the Pure Encapsulations brand, the products were made from hemp cultivated and extracted in Slovakia. The addition of the drug delivery system and soft gel production occurred in Switzerland.

“We are extremely proud to expand our relationship with Nestle’s healthcare professional brands into Europe after their success in the US market this past year,” Jesse Lopez, founder and chief executive officer of Geocann, said in a recent release. “Their leadership team’s validation of science-backed and clinically-proven hemp products is an important milestone for our industry and provides exceptional credibility to the therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids formulated with VESlorb.”

VESlorb is a self-assembling colloidal droplet delivery system that boosts the bioavailability of natural ingredients like cannabinoids and terpenes. The peer reviewed journal Molecules recently published the results of a double-blind, cross-over design study comparing the pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters of a broad spectrum hemp extract formulation with VESlorb to that of the same broad spectrum hemp extract combined with medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil.

“Together with Geocann, we share a passion and commitment to product safety, purity, and performance,” said Dr. Barry Ritz, chief senior officer at Pure Encapsulations, in a statement. “Our partnership is built on a relentless effort to ensure these are the most science-backed CBD products in the world, setting the benchmark for what consumers expect and healthcare professionals demand.”
