Consumer products manufacturer Church & Dwight Co. Inc. issued a voluntary recall for select vitafusion brand gummy vitamin products after two consumers alerted the firm to the possible presence of a metallic mesh material in certain product lots, according to a company announcement posted to the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website) Tuesday.

The gummies were manufactured over a four-day period from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3, 2020. Church & Dwight is coordinating the recall with the FDA and said it is following all relevant protocols.

Impacted product include one lot of vitafusion Kids Melatoni, six lots of vitafusion Fiber Well, one lot of vitafusion SleepWell, one lot of vitafusion MultiVites, and four lots of vitafusion Melatonin. The goods were distributed to in-store and e-commerce retailers from Nov. 13, 2020 to Apr. 9, 2021.

Church & Dwight said it is not aware of any illness or injury linked to the products to date. Eating a metallic material could cause damage to the digestive tract.

Those in possession of the recalled products are urged to not consume them and contact the company’s Customer Affairs team.
