Gummy supplements contract manufacturer Santa Cruz Nutritionals is moving forward on plans to open a new $84 million facility in Sumter, SC, according to a release issued Thursday by the South Carolina Department of Commerce.

The project includes a 24,000-sq-ft packaging and employee facility and a 12,000-sq-ft warehouse and distribution center. 164 new jobs will be created as a result of the investment.

“We are excited to partner with the State of South Carolina, Sumter County, and Sumter Economic Development in building and creating the world-class standard for Vitamin, Mineral, Supplement (VMS) gummy manufacturing facilities,” said the company’s chief executive officer, Carlyn Solomon, in a statement. “This investment serves to grow our capacity to deliver enjoyable health and wellness nutritional supplements. More importantly, it serves our broader mission to holistically improve lives through the innovative products we produce and the growth opportunities they present both for our partners and local community.”

Work on the site is slated to reach completion in December 2024. South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits linked to the expansion.
