The Portland Co. (TPC), a global Assemble to Order (ATO) packing equipment provider, has launched an OEM rebuilds and upgrades program to offer customers improved performance and profitability.

The rebuilds and upgrades program provides a budget-friendly option for customers seeking to update the features of their existing packing equipment. With options ranging from a Wi-Fi module for data exchange to encoders, data processing systems and more, the program will provide customers the ability to significantly improve and upgrade their plant.

Francesco Ferrandico, managing partner of The Portland Co. said that with this program in place, customers can make significant improvements to their existing equipment from other manufacturers to boost the output, productivity and weight accuracy. "We offer the option to upgrade equipment with state-of-the-art technologies regardless of the original supplier," he added.

The rebuilds program focuses on three categories — electronic, mechanical, and integral upgrades, which is the combination of the first two levels of upgrades. Customers can choose between the first two levels or the last one for a complete enhancement. These advancements are available for existing designs including EEL type VDE, FLS Ventomatic type EVO, FLS Ventomatic type PLUS, and Enexco. Additionally, electronic and integral rebuilds and upgrades can be implemented with other brands such as Metral and Claudius Peters, or various Chinese machines after a preliminary technical check.

The electronic upgrade category includes a Wi-Fi module for data exchange, a set of MEC 4.0 control units, load cells replacement, optional QUAT2RO system intelligence, dedicated electrical periphery, data processing system, encoder, solenoid valves replacement, optional compatible critical spare parts, and HMI for operator interface.

The mechanical upgrade category consists of the complete replacement of the existing filling units with the new TPC filling units. The filling units are available with a redesigned slide valve or with the patented ROTO-LOCK dosing system. Customers choose the options and systems they wish to incorporate based on their needs and maintenance budget.

“Many cement and building materials operations are working with equipment installations that are aging,” Ferrandico said. “Our rebuilds and upgrades program allows us to provide a solution for optimizing the existing packing facility — from upgrading the complete control system to completely replacing the filling unit.”

The Portland Co. also offers the world’s first Assemble to Order (ATO) packing equipment line, comprised of the PANTHERA-PACKER PVT rotary packer, CHEETAH-BAGPLACER, LYNX-PACKER LVT stationary packer and manual RHINO-LOADER for conveying single bags onto trucks and trailers. The ATO approach provides German technology in standardized configurations that reduce lead times while maintaining high quality — all in a price-competitive machine. The ATO equipment line is supported by The Portland Company’s signature PROcheck approach, a comprehensive 360-degree concept that focuses on optimizing productivity while minimizing downtime and eliminating critical failures.
