Norwood Marking Systems Celebrates 50 Years

Norwood Marking Systems has announced the celebration of its 50th anniversary. Established in 1960 by Eugene Norwood, Norwood Marking Systems is recognized worldwide for high-quality thermal transfer and hot stamp printing equipment.

Norwood’s technology leadership began with the introduction of the world’s first hot stamp imprinter for the food industry. Today, the company designs and manufactures a range of thermal transfer printers and hot stamp printers for coding and marking a wide variety of packages containing foods, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, medical devices, chemicals, tobacco, and other products.

“When Eugene Norwood founded the business 50 years ago, his vision was that package coding could be used to isolate product problems and minimize loss.  It was a new idea at the time,” explained Larry Kulik, general manager of Norwood Marking Systems. “Of course, the benefits of package coding are now well accepted and the technology is widely adopted. Norwood continues to innovate with printers that maximize production flexibility, increase throughput, ease operation, and reduce costs.”

Norwood Marking Systems, a division of Illinois Tool Works, is joined by sister companies, Allen Coding Systems, ac codiergeräte gmbh, and Kingsley Machine Co. to offer a wide range of marking and coding systems. The companies design and manufacture innovative thermal transfer printers including custom traversing systems and hot stamp imprinters, as well as ink and embossing printers that code and mark for a variety of industrial markets worldwide.
