Processing and packaging solutions firm Tetra Pak announced the opening of its new sales, engineering, and manufacturing facilities for cheese production solutions in Olsztyn, Poland on Wednesday. The new site will double the company’s capacity of cheese-making solutions in the country and enable it to conduct comprehensive testing of equipment.

“As the only company able to deliver a completely seamless integrated solution for cheese production, this investment demonstrates our commitment to help customers meet rapidly changing consumer demands and capture emerging growth opportunities,” Ola Elmqvist, executive vice president of Processing Solutions & Equipment at Tetra Pak, said in a company press release.

The 12,000-sq-m site contains a range of engineering capabilities, including mechanical, automation, and electrical engineering, and assets to produce Tetra Pak’s processing solutions. Some 350 engineers, production staff, and business management personnel work at the Olsztyn facility.

“One of the main reasons we chose Olsztyn is its excellent location in the heart of a region with a great dairy tradition and excellent food engineering talent base,” said Elmqvist. “This means we’re perfectly placed to serve not only our customers in Poland but also wider Europe.”

Tetra Pak said it is developing new production methods and processes for cheese-based ingredients, on-the-go cheese snacks, and cheese-based protein additives. Research cited by the company shows the global market for cheese is expected to grow at a rate of 2.3% through 2023 to 31,000 kt.
