Agricultural cooperative Superior Ag recently finalized a new co-partnership with Lebanon, KY-based grain storage facility Central Kentucky Grain LLC (CKG) that will increase its storage capacity to more than 7 million bushels across eight grain elevators.

CKG’s current chief executive officer Mark Boone, will remain at the helm of the business under the new partnership.

“We are privileged to co-partner with CKG and expand our footprint in this vital grain consumption area. Increasing grain storage capacity allows us for a stronger merchandising capability going forward,” Superior Ag President and CEO Barry Day said in an October 18 release announcing the relationship. “Mark’s vision and values are the foundation of CKG and w are humbled to partner with him in this venture.”

The Kentucky firm’s Lebanon location is undergoing an expansion that will increase its storage capacity to 480,000 bushels from 320,00 bushels. After the project reaches completion at the end of 2019, CKG plans to add three 5000 bushel overhead shipping bins to the site in early 2020.

“Our partnership with Superior Ag provides security for our marketing arm to keep local producers, distilleries, and other markets connected,” Boone said in a statement. “They bring financial support and bring marketing expertise, as well as business collaboration to create immediate growth to our company.”

Based in Indiana, Superior Ag specializes in agronomy, grain, livestock nutrition, energy, retail, agriculture, and precision ag technology.
