Global food and beverage giant Nestlé recently inaugurated its new production plant mixes in the 6thof October industrial zone in Egypt that will produce Bonjorno brand soluble coffee mixes, the Swiss company announced in a press release Thursday.

About 240 workers will staff the new 12,740-sq-m facility, which contains eight production lines for coffee mixes. Nestle said it invested CHF 13.9 million, or about $13.9 million, into the project. Featuring an initial capacity of 14,000 tn, the firm said the facility has room for future production expansions ranging from 22,000 tn to 44,000 tn.

“We are delighted to inaugurate this new factory, which uses Nestlé’s strong manufacturing and innovation capabilities to leverage the most advanced technology. This factory reflects Nestlé’s ambition to invest in Egypt and foster the development of the rapidly growing soluble coffee segment, which has been gaining popularity among Egyptians,” Nestlé S.A. Executive Vice President and Head of Operations Magdi Batato said in a statement.

Bonjorno coffee products produced at the factory in the 6thof October industrial zone will be exported to other countries in the region, the company official said. The opening of the facility comes after Nestlé purchased Bonjorno’s owner, instant coffee firm Caravan Marketing Company SAE, in January 2017.

The Swiss firm said that coffee is one of Nestlé’s fastest growing businesses.
