American candy maker Mars Wrigley Confectionery recently broke ground on a $30 million expansion project at its Waco, TX plant that will add on 65,000-sq-ft of product distribution space to the site, local news organizations reported.

The Waco plant produces a range of popular chocolate and candy products like Skittles and Snickers.

“The brands produced in Waco have seen fantastic growth,” Mars Wrigley spokesperson Anthony Guerrieri told the Waco Tribune-Herald. “This new investment will help us to bring new varieties of our iconic brands already produced in Waco, while also ensur[ing] we continue to modernize our existing production and give even faster service to retailers across the country.”

The plant’s site director Dan Braswell said in the Tribune-Herald report that 10 new positions will be created through the project, and said that the company may use some of the additional space for production activities in the years ahead.
