July 8, 2019

Specialty and custom chemicals firm MFG Chemical announced plans Monday to make improvements in safety and efficiency at its three production facilities in Dalton, GA.

Dubbed “Project Oddessy,” the company’s project will involve upgrades of management systems for process safety and compliance workflows. The company also intends to boost the capacity and efficiency of the plants in response to an uptick in demand from a range of industries, including agriculture, asphalt, soap and detergents, mining, and personal care.

“The upgrading of all three of our Dalton, GA plants, together with recent staffing additions, will make MFG Chemical a world-class custom and specialty chemical resource for a wide range of customers here in the U.S. and internationally,” Keith Arnold, president and chief executive officer of MFG Chemical said in a company press release. “Our recently upgraded Pasadena, TX plant will now focus on meeting the needs of our oilfield customers, while our three Dalton, GA plant will produce specialty and custom chemicals to meet the growing demands of the Water Treatment, Coatings, Agriculture, Personal Care and other specialty markets served by MFG Chemical.”

During the upgrade, MFG Chemical will add new cooling towers, new process control technology, new reactor piping that offers better pressure relief, and new safety instrumented systems to the three Georgia sites.
