Kimberly-Clark Appoints New Executive Leaders

January 17, 2020

Personal care products maker Kimberly-Clark announced several leadership changes this month that the firm said is intended to further its efforts to meet its K-C Strategy 2022 goals.

The president of Kimberly-Clark Professional, Aaron Powell, was appointed president of the company’s Asia-Pacific consumer business. The region is the firm’s largest international region, with operations in over 30 countries.

Since joining Kimberly-Clark in 2007, Powell has lead the firm’s consumer business in EMEA and held the role of vice president and managing director its consumer business in Central and Eastern Europe.

Achal Agarwal, who currently serves president of the Asia-Pacific consumer business, will become Kimberly-Clark’s Chief Transformation Officer. The executive will be in charge of the strategy and plan to build up the company’s organizational capabilities. He will also work to transform its work practices to improve results.

Agarwal joined the company in 2008 after serving in leadership roles at PepsiCo Inc. and Imperial Chemical Industries. The company said he has fueled growth and market share gains in emerging markets like China.

Both of the new appointees will report to chairman of the board and chief executive officer Mike Hsu.

“These leadership changes will help further enable achievement of our K-C Strategy 2022 objectives,” Hsu said in a company press release. “Achal and Aaron are both seasoned executives with proven ability to deliver higher levels of sustained results and position us to delight consumers every day, everywhere.”

The changes take effect on March 1. Kimberly-Clark said it is working to find a new leader for the Kimberly-Clark Professional Business.

Hsu was named the firm's president and CEO in November 2016. The company said at the time of his appointment that it was “evolving its business structure” to place greater emphasis on its international businesses, with its regional businesses in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and its K-C North America and K-C Professional units, reporting directly to Hsu.
