American food firm Blue Bell Creameries issued a voluntary recall on Tuesday for a lot of ice cream after a customer discovered a piece of a plastic tool in a package of the product, a press release posted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website said.

A select lot of half gallon Butter Crunch Ice Cream produced on Aug. 26, 2019 on a production line at its Sylacauga, AL plant is involved in the recall. Impacted products have the code 082621222 printed on top of the packaging lid.

“The company investigation revealed the broken tool was inadvertently incorporated into the production process in a small amount of product,” Blue Bell said in the release. “In an abundance of caution, the company is recalling a full day of production of this flavor from this manufacturing facility.”

Blue Bell said the lot was distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Stores that received the products have been instructed by the company to remove the ice cream from shelves.

No injuries have been linked to consumption of the product, the release said. The FDA is cooperating with Blue Bell in carrying out the recall.
