Specialty chemicals and food ingredients distributor IMCD recently expanded its presence in the U.S. market with the completion of its acquisition of California-based specialty chemicals distributor E.T. Horn Company, also known as HORN, the company announced in an Aug. 1 press release.

“HORN is a leading specialty chemical distributor in the U.S. with an excellent reputation. There is a very good fit between HORN and our current U.S. organization and we are convinced that we can jointly offer exciting opportunities to our staff, suppliers, and customers,” said Marcus Jordan, president of IMCD Americas, said in a June 12 statement announcing plans for the acquisition.

Primarily serving the southwest and western regions of the U.S., the La Miranda, CA firm specializes in animal nutrition, plastics, human food and nutrition, nutraceuticals, coatings, construction, personal care, and plastics. The company brought in $276 million in revenue in 2017.

IMCD acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of HORN. The companies did not detail the financial terms of the transaction.
