Food company General Mills named a new member to its board of directors, the company announced on Wednesday. Maria Sastre was elected to the Minneapolis-based firm’s board and is set to assume her new role on June 1.
“We are pleased to welcome Maria to the board as we continue to execute our strategic plan and drive significant long-term value for General Mills shareholders,” Jeff Harmening, chief executive officer and chairman of the Cheerios maker, said in a press release. “With her experiences leading large, complex organizations and background in consumer-facing businesses, we are excited about the contributions she will make to the board and our company.”
Sastre’s last post was as president and chief operating officer of Signature Flight Support, managing the firm’s fixed base operations and maintenance centers around the world. She also held roles at Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD as vice president, international, Asia, Latin America, & Caribbean, and vice president of hotel operations.
Earlier in her career, Sastre worked in executive and leadership positions at Continental Airlines, United Airlines, and Eastern Airlines.
