A new chief executive officer is poised to take the helm of German food processing technology firm GEA Group this coming February as the company’s current top executive, Jürg Oleas, prepares to step down.

Stefan Klebert, who formerly served as CEO of industrial group Schuler AG, will step into the CEO position in February next year when Oleas departs. He was also appointed to the Düsseldorf-based company’s board and will assume that role this November.

“We are delighted to welcome Stefan Klebert, a very successful manager with international experience on the board of the company. Mr. Klebert has a great deal of experience in the strategic development of global groups,” Dr. Helmut Perlet, the chair of GEA’s Supervisory Board, said in a company press release. “For this reason, we are convinced that he is the right person capable of giving fresh momentum to GEA while leading it into the future as a profitable and sustainable enterprise.”

Starting his career at FESTO AG & Co. as a sales management assistant in 1991, Klebert has held a variety of executive roles at Schindler AG, Haushahn-Gruppe, ThyssenKrupp AG, and Schuler AG.

“GEA is one of the world’s largest and leading suppliers for the food processing industry and a wide range of further sectors, and to me, it is a very exciting challenge to advance the strategic further development of the company together with its employees,” Klebert said in a statement.  “I am convinced that we will succeed in harnessing the outstanding market and technology position of the company for generating further profitable growth. I will use my early start for quickly and thoroughly familiarizing myself with the company, its business, and the various stakeholders.”

Jürg Oleas announced his intention to step down to GEA’s Supervisory Board this March, Powder & Bulk Solids reported
