Explosion at Aluminum Factory Leaves Five Dead

A blast killed five people at an aluminum facility in Jiangyin, China early Tuesday morning, Reuters reported, attributing the information to Chinese state news sources. 

Emergency crews responded to the site after the explosion was reported at about 2 a.m., according coverage by JQK News. The Information Office of the Jiangyin Municipal Peoples Government said that the blast caused the plant to collapse, the Chinese news organization reported.

Two people were pronounced dead at the Yize Aluminum plant and the others died while receiving treatment at an area hospital, Reuters said. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

A source from the Work Safety Administration of Jiangyin told trade publicationAsian Metalthat the accident may have been caused a worker error from fatigue, a process problem or an issue with equipment.
